Women in England can now apply to get their NHS prescribed HRT for £19.30 per year! It was originally publicised as £18.70 but the government on 9 March 2023 announced a price increase for all NHS prescriptions which will include the new HRT pre-payment one too.
It's time to raise our glasses and cheer this incredible milestone in women’s health.
Fiona McKay, one of the main menopause campaigners for the reduction in HRT costs and founder of The Menopause Maze said "I’m so thrilled that my campaigning has paid off getting equal access for all women regardless of socio economic status or location, for their NHS prescribed HRT medications in England."
HRT is currently free in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
So this new introduction coming into effect on 1 April 2023 will enable the reduction of worry for many women on the affordability of often multiple HRT medications needed, all currently charged on separate prescriptions to meet their hormone replacement therapy needs in menopause.
How can you get access the one of year's cost and supply?
You'll be able to apply for a PPC. That's a Pre Paid Certificate to cover NHS prescribed and licensed HRT which will be one amount for a year's supply.
So it’s time to mark your calendars 📆
- On April 1, 2023 you apply to get a year's worth of NHS prescribed and licensed HRT medication for £19.30 with just one pre-payment certificate.
- Employers: make sure to spread this exciting news among your female staff.
Can you get pre-paid certificates before 1 April 2023 introduction?
